Here's a suggestion: if two words are just variations on the same name, why don't we have only a single page for it, and have the other variation redirect to it? It will reduce clutter in the main category page. --Ilya 11:11, 8 August 2007 (PDT)

How about we just make sure that all variations are listed on the name's page, in bold? That's what Wikipedia does when two words mean the same thing. I'm making a sample entry for my name, Yakubovich right now. --Ilya 11:11, 8 August 2007 (PDT)

Localization category

Category:Localization is just one big category, separate from the Localization article. Do you think it would be a good idea to make those a single page, and break the categories down by continent? --Ilya 16:27, 9 August 2007 (PDT)

Wiki problems

Yes, I know what's going on and it's actually partially my own fault. I am working on a new style, GeniBook, to replace Wikipedia's MonoBook style. However, due to some SVN error, the file has corrupted the MonoBook style and did not become the default. To change your style to GeniBook, go to 'my preferences' > Skin > and select GeniBook. It's still not perfect (I didn't mean to release it to the live version today), but it looks better.

To elaborate on the problem: you are currently using the GeniBook CSS with the MonoBook PHP file.

Translation template

Hi there. I saw that you created Template:Translation, and I think it's a great idea and needs to be used. I further think we should have language templates to stick terms for a language on the country pages (e.g. put Spanish terms on all Spanish speaking countries, etc.); localized variants can be addressed on the page itself. Ya I started it with the idea that smaller countries could use it to quickly fill things in instead of the daunting task of copying all the terms from Geni but ran in to formatting issues (much like the Danish users ran into on the Denmark page. If you have any ideas on how to proceed with it by all means. I ran into that brick wall and have been a little busy lately. Check out Template:Translation. It's now easier to cut/paste chunks into the language-specific template. Also, undefined terms have a hideous orange color to make them stand out. Rolando 09:19, 19 February 2008 (PST)

Changing translation templates Dutch:Belgium and French Belgium

Hi,

I've noticed that you changed the translation pages on the Belgium translation pages. I hope that you understand that some expressions in Flemish (Dutch Belgium) en the Netherlands or not always the same. That is also the case for some expressions we use in the French language.

So if there is a disagreement about some expressions, that could be the case.

I also believe that there might be a difference between some expressions in Canada and in France.

If not, you may always correct me.

Note about American Indians

I saw your note about American Indian designations, and as an author of a biography of an American Indian painter, I would like you to know that although "Native American" is commonly considered politically correct by non-Indians, ALL of the Navajo, Hopi, Pueblo and other members of tribes/ nations/pueblos that I have talked to much prefer American Indian as a generic term, with preference to their own tribal name, or better yet the way they refer to themselves. In other words, the people who call themselves Dineh are called Navajo in general American English usage. Generically, they are American Indians.

I did not make any changes in the WIKI because I'm new at this, but just had to speak up about the terminology, which has been distorted by American academia.
