Hello XXX,

The Collaboration Pool is an informal group of people who's common goal is to resolve their "merge issues". When you join the "pool", you will receive about 400 Requests to Collaborate, from the current members. By accepting these requests, you will be able to resolve merges not only with profiles that the other members manage, but also with profiles managed by THEIR Collaborators (potentially THOUSANDS of additional managers). The bigger the pool gets, the more effective it is! So be sure to invite your family, friends and collaborators too!

You join the pool by adding a comment saying you want to join, to the following Public Discussion: http://www.geni.com/discussions/6000000008539319639 which a more detailed explaining at the beginning. After accepting the initial round of requests, you'll have to follow this discussion, and send similar requests to members that join after you. Good luck with those merges! You might want to send this or a similar message (feel free to copy-paste it) to others you collaborate with.

Eventually we should be able to either incorporate these to the "knowledge base" or better yet, replace it.

Let's try and keep these arranged by topic, put the complete description in the send-level title, so we can easily jump to them, from the Table-Of-Contents.

Being a Software programmer, I know that sometimes being "lazy" saves a LOT of work. So here is an empty template of such a canned response, to make it easier to ad new ones.

Public vs. Family

Hello folks,

just wanted to tell you that you made this a PUBLIC discussion. It can be seen by ALL Geni users (and Google). You MIGHT want to make Family Discussions which are only visible to your Family-Group.

Merge Center

Include Collaborators

Hello folks,

the very large number of "merge issues" you see is probably because the list also includes those issues of ALL of you Collaborators. On the top-right side of the page's title, you should see a check-box titled "Include Collaborators". Make sure it is NOT checked. Your list will become much shorter (and do-able), containing only "issues" for profiles that you are a manager of.

Resolving merge issues

Hello folks,

Resolving "merge issues" can be a bit daunting for the beginning user. So here is a detailed guide on how to do that: http://wiki.geni.com/index.php/Resolving_Merge_Issues

Introduction
