Surnames

The main surnames has male, and female ending of surname depends of married status.

• Zimnickas (male, both married and not married)
• Zimnickienė (female, married, wife)
• Zimnickaitė (female, not married)

• Zimnickis (ending is)
• Zimnickienė
• Zimnickytė

• Butkus (ending us)
• Butkienė
• Butkutė

• Bliūdžius (ending ius)
• Bliūdžiuvienė
• Bliūdžiūtė

All surnames should be grouped by male form. An ending of female surname depends on an ending of her father's/husband's/guardian's surname.

It's now possible for women to ignore Lithuanian surname notation though. For example, if her husband is Zimnickas, she may choose Zimnickas or Zimnickė instead of Zimnickienė.
