Here are a few tips to help you get started with genealogy.

  1. Everyone knows basic information about themselves. This is the information that should be entered first. Some basics you can start with:
    • Birth date
    • Place of birth
    1. Parents’ names
    2. Where they’ve lived
  1. Start with what you know. If everyone contributes the information that they know onto Geni the records will be vast and accurate. This basic information is often the most important when searching for information about a person. The basic information needed to narrow down a search when searching for a person is as follows
