Geni Roadmap

The listed features are accumulated from the forum where they have been acknowledged by a member of the Geni Team (date stamp). All qualified roadmap listings have therefore at least one date stamped reference to a forum thread. Ideally there would be only one thread in the forum

It is our hope that Geni staff will assist maintaining and ensuring each feature request is correctly listed in any of the following phases

  1. Under Development - For features currently being worked on by development staff and to be released in near future (<3 months)
  2. Planned features - For features accepted and waiting to be allocated to development staff.
  3. Features being Investigated - Features currently being researched/reviewed by the Geni Team
  4. Postponed Features - Features considered low priority and placed on the backburner
  5. Rejected feature requests - Requests/suggestions that will not be considered
  6. New feature requests - Requests/suggestions that have not yet received any positive response from Geni Team Member

Each section has a general subsection "Additional features/fixes" for minor bugfixes


Under Development

Tree Merging

Tree merging will enable existing trees to be merged.

GEDCOM import

GEDCOM import would allow users to import their existing family trees from other programs into Geni. Note that GEDCOM export is already implemented as an alpha feature.

This feature is dependent on the "Tree merging" feature.


Revision History

Keeping track of profiles revision history and allowing users to undo actions - This will allow members of the tree to check what changes have been made by any members of the tree and reverse to previous versions

Localization

Development is in progress.

This will show a timeline of family events.

Redesign help site

Creating links among various help/community properties for better integration - help (faq), blog, wiki, and forums.

Adoption

This will allow the illustration of adopted children with both their adoptive and biological parents.
