Translation HOWTO

Nice job! If you have any ideas on how to improve the template or the sub-template, please let me know! Rolando 09:02, 25 February 2008 (PST)

--Thanks! I don't have any ideas, but thank you for your great job on making the template! Dicito 09:52, 25 February 2008 (PST)
Dicito, I got your message on my talk page about the bug (?) in the translation template. I then found that all kinds of strange things had been done to the template, apparently by someone trying to complete a {{Finnish translation}}. Let me know if it looks OK now. I would encourage people not to email you but instead to leave a message on your talk page so that others can help out. Thanks! Rolando 06:37, 29 February 2008 (PST)

Dutch/Belgium translation template

Hi Dicito,

I've been working on the translation template for the Dutch/Belgium language. But for some reason I can't seem to translate THREE sentences. The text is there but it doesn't show. Grrrrrrrr. Quit honest, I'm fed up with it. Can you give me some help editing these THREE sentences?

--Greetz

Hi Greetz!
Wow! Great job! I've looked at it, but I can't see what's wrong. It's really strange. I'll try ask the person who created the Template:Translation (Rolando), and come back to you when it's fixed. --Dicito 08:01, 31 March 2008 (PDT)
Greetz and Dicito, I made a couple of changes to {{Translation}} and it should be working now. There were some mismatches with spacing and/or punctuation in a few translation terms. Good luck! Rolando 10:15, 31 March 2008 (PDT)
Thanks Rolando! --Dicito 08:09, 1 April 2008 (PDT)

Finnish translation

Tried to understand the message about "New on Geni (in English)" - translation.

I know the blog is in English and will be. Ok. But to translate just one word "English" is impossible in Finnish. I need to translate "in English" --> Englanniksi. Do I understand you correctly not to translate "New on Geni"? That is a pity, but then I´ll better not to translate the whole row at all. Sounds best for me. THX for your good work --Pekka 10:23, 1 April 2008 (PDT)

Actually, I'm not 100% sure what to do about this text. It's up to the Geni Team. You do what you think is best. What I suggest is to translate the whole text. And then write "Englanniksi" instead of "In English". But it's not even sure that this text is going to be there. I just thought that it might be somethink like that in the future.
Thank you very much for translating to Finnish! The more languages the better! --Dicito 05:43, 2 April 2008 (PDT)

German translation

Hi Dicito! I should have the german translation ready until next weekend. When it's done: how do I implement it to my profile. How do I change my language setting to german? --Cem.topcu

Thank you for translating! I'm sorry but you can not implent it into your profile. You can not even change your language setting to German.
Currently, you'll just have to wait until the Geni Team does this. And this may, unfortunately, take months. I'm sorry, but I'm not behind Geni. I'm just another user of Geni, trying to start the translations.
But thanks anyways for translating! --Dicito 05:12, 4 April 2008 (PDT)
Thanks for the info! I think you're doing a terrific job here. It's good to have people like you here. I can wait, I just hope they WILL implement all those finished templates one day.
Cheers! Cem --Cem.topcu
Thanks! I can't wait too. But it's going to be sometime after the GEDCOM import and Tree Merging. I think they'll use the templates, and probably change some stuff and look it through. --Dicito 14:13, 5 April 2008 (PDT)

News about Localization

Hi Dicito,

You are involved in several localization and translation pages. It is promised since morethan one year, but still nothing yet. That's why I put the "STOP LYING" the other day.

Have you got any news about some progress ?

Cheers, Rmatt 06:13, 23 June 2008 (PDT)

Oh, that's why.
Well, it is true that they lied about it, and unfortunately I still haven't heard any news about it.
We'll just have to wait... AGAIN!

Czech translation

Hi Dictio!

I'm still in Hope :) that GENI will be completely localized. I've translated Czech template to my native language. Now is 99.99% completed, 5 lines of text is still english-only.

So keep me informed about new progress of language support in GENI, so I'll be able to check my work.

With greetings

Pavel Vitek --Dr.CRYO 03:46, 1 July 2008 (PDT)

Great! I hope too. One day!

I am not agree with some translations of the final Mexico work

Dicito,

I am not agree with some of the translation made in the Mexico translation. Because the translation is already closed I have added my recommendations in the discussion page so we can discuss them. --Meme 00:05, 19 September 2008 (PDT)
