This is somehting I came across as a tree conflict in need of fixing. Main problem seems to be a confusion between 2 generations of Friedrich Langenbechs and their father, Johann Friedrich.

Father figure: Johann Friedrich Langenbech

From Find-A-Grave:

  • Johann Friedrich Langenbeck (1814-1903) + Anna Mare Hornung (1828-1902)
    • Ameila A. Langenbeck (1851-1932) + Edward Nichols, 2 children ("Annie" in 1870)
    • William Edward Langenbeck (1857-1890) + Eliza Cord
      • Harrold E Langenbeck (ca 1886) - 1910 census
      • Wilhelmina Langenbeck Talley (1888-1938)
      • Frank Edgar Langenbeck (1889-1962)
    • Louisa Langenbeck Daubenbiss (1860-1942) + Frank Prewet Sinclair Daubenbiss, 2 children
    • Frederick Langenbeck (1863-1951) + Eliza Cord
      • Frederick S. Langenbeck (1892-1965)
      • Roland R Langenbeck (ca 1895) - 1910 census
      • Irene Audrey Langenbeck (1896-1983)
      • Albert Lionel Langenbeck (1900-1906) - not in census, naturally
      • Vernon E Langenbeck (ca 1905) - 1910 census
      • Chester Monroe Langenbeck (1907-1990) - 1910 census has "Monroe C"
    • Annie Langanbeck (ca 1866) - 1870 census
    • Minnie Langanbeck (ca 1888) - 1870 census

Note that Eliza was marired to BOTH William and Frederick.

As of 1910 Census, Frank E. was living in San Luis Obisipo, with wife, 5 children and 2 stepchildren. Harrold is not listed in Find-A-Grave.

In the 1900 Census, William, Harold and Wilhelmina are listed as children of Frederick and Eliza, not stepchildren.

The 1870 Census has Johann Frederich listed as "Fredk Langanbeck" and the wife as "Annie M Langanbeck" There are other children here.

Familysearch has many other records of Langenbeck. Note that there's another Johann Frederick Langenbeck born in Germany around 1901.
