English Origin

The name Cockerill was carried to England in the enormous movement of people that followed the Norman Conquest of 1066. The Cockerill family lived in Oxfordshire. The family was originally from Cocquerel, near Evreux, Normandy, and it is from that location that their name derives.[1]
